Ulster BOCES Unveils New Manufacturing and Science Training Facilities

High school and adult manufacturing students from the Career & Technical Center and Center for Adult Education at Ulster BOCES are now able to take their high-tech manufacturing training to the next level in their brand-new, state-of-the-art Manufacturing Lab and Innovations Science Lab.

The Manufacturing Lab features four new pieces of equipment, with an estimated total value of $192,000, which were generously donated by Haas Factory Outlet, a Division of Allendale Machinery Systems, located in Upper Saddle River, NJ, and Haas Automation, in Oxnard, CA.

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Hudson Valley Community College is on its way to some new classrooms and labs thanks to a $1 million grant from the Haas Foundation.

Most college students are worried about getting a job after graduation but not Alex Schaefer. He’s a first-year manufacturing student at HVCC.

“It’s a guaranteed career path,” he said. “It’s a good career. I mean, everyone needs a machinist.”

The manufacturing industry is hiring, but HVCC can’t supply the workforce that’s needed.

During a ceremony on the Troy campus Wednesday, members of the Gene Haas Foundation presented the college with a $1 million check for improving the school's technology program.

Hudson Valley Community College recently received a leadership challenge gift of $1 million from the Gene Haas Foundation for the expansion of the college’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology program and Lang Hall, the building which houses the program’s labs and classrooms.
