Over the past two seasons, TITAN-American Built has developed an incredible vault of content. Full length episodes, educational content, practical tooling demonstrations and inspirational stories. A HUGE community of students, teachers, machinists and makers have rallied around in support of the show and to learn from what they were seeing demonstrated. As Titan has toured through the country visiting colleges and industrial schools he began asking himself, who is teaching the teachers? A theme developed that showed that each program varied in its curriculum based on the teachers experiences. . . .

Tech companies called Wednesday for the federal government to invest in more STEM education and reform immigration policies, recurring themes the industry hopes to influence in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election.

Representatives of Microsoft, Facebook and Amazon said they face difficulties finding qualified staff, a handicap they believe other US companies face and that threatens the strength of American industry. The issue is so widespread that it affects fields outside of technology, including pharmaceuticals and health care, they said.

Central Maine CC given $1 million to improve machine lab

AUBURN — Central Maine Community College announced Tuesday it has received $1 million to help expand and renovate the precision machining technology lab on the Auburn campus.

The $1 million grant came from the Gene Haas Foundation; the improved lab will be named the “Gene Haas Precision Machining Technology Center,” Dean of Planning and Public Affairs Roger Philippon said in a prepared statement.

Work on the project is expected to begin in 2017. The first phase will involve an interior renovation of more than 5,000 square feet, including relocating the quality control room, off . . .
