     HTEC Network      August Update

     9th Annual CNC Educator Training Conference was held at  California Polytechnic State University
July 27-30, 2015    

 293 HTEC Members and Partners attended the Conference and related social events

173 schools and organizations were represented at the event

183 HTEC Members, Partners and Spouses toured Haas Automation on Thursday

27 Spouses also enjoyed sight-seeing and touring the SLO Coast & Attractions

Monday - July 27 - 8 HTEC partner/sponsors presented a total of 11 AM & PM Technology Workshops. 

 The Monday Evening Opening Reception was held at the Santa Margarita Ranch.

Tuesday - July 28 - General Meeting, Forums, 20 Breakout Presentations and 33 Partner Technology Exhibits. 

Tuesday evening - Banquet Dinner

Wednesday - July 29 - 20 more Breakout Presentations and Partner Technology Exhibits.

Wednesday Evening - Open for networking

Thursday - July 30 - 183 toured Haas Automation in Oxnard, California. 

Martin Koch, Trian Georgeou and Jose Macedo were the Cal Poly hosts.  HFO Anaheim, HFO Torrance and HFO Union City were the host HFOs.

NIMS CNC Contests

 Winners & Awards

June 22- 26, 2015  at The Kentucky Exposition Center, Louisville, Kentucky


SkillsUSA headed to Louisville, Ky., June 22-26, 2015, for the 51st annual National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC), a showcase of career and technical education students.  More than 15,000 people — including students, teachers and business partners — are expected to participate in the week long event.

The SkillsUSA Championships was held on Wednesday, June 24, and Thursday, June 25, in Louisville. More than 6,000 outstanding career and technical education students — all state contest winners competed hands-on in 99 different trade, technical and leadership fields. Students work against the clock and each other, proving their expertise in occupations such as electronics, computer-aided drafting, CNC machining, medical assisting and culinary arts.

Contests are run with the help of industry, trade associations and labor organizations, and test competencies are set by industry. 

Leadership contestants will demonstrate skills including extemporaneous speaking and conducting meetings by parliamentary procedure. The competitions will be open to the public and free of charge.

The Gene Haas Foundation Awards $204,000 to NIMS for  CNC Scholarships

The Gene Haas SkillsUSA Machining Championship Award Certificates were presented by NIMS at the June 26th, 2015 Awards Ceremony to 18 national medal winners of the three CNC Machining Contests in the following amounts: Gold: $4,000, Silver: $3,000, and Bronze: $2,000.

In addition, NIMS awarded $1000 GHF scholarships to each state SkillsUSA Gold Medal winner who came to Louisville (135 students) competing in the CNC Milling, CNC Turning and CNC Technician national competitions sponsored by NIMS in Louisville, Kentucky.
